A Facebook friend of mine posted this in my messages, and claims it's available at Costco. Can anyone verify this and confirm/deny it?

Picture: As you can see, it says "Coca-Cola Cerise" on one of the cans.

By looking at the Nutrition Facts in french & english and the /MD under the Coca-Cola logo I can say that those cans are really from Canada.

Excellent. Now to just find the darn things. :P

Update: I have a bigger and better picture, which clearly show that the cans are bilingual. However, I gave Coke a call and they deny that these even exist...504

I was at my local Costco in the Edmonton area and they have none. I will be trying another location as i prefer Cherry Coke over Wild Cherry Pepsi. Plus i think the style of the can or graphics is second to the original Coca-Cola red. Another plus in Canada all sodas have at least half real sugar comparred to American 100% HFCS. Real sugar adds a sharper crisper tatse. Maybe Coke is just test marketing Cherry Coke in certain areas of Canada, which i hope Edmonton is included.

I heard from a guy in the Cherry Coke Canada FB page I liked, that it's in NB and Ontario right now, I'll go check myself if it's here.

I was going to ask if that was club packaging, it looks like it. We have 32 and 35 packs of Coke in the US, they are packaged the same. But Pepsi 36 packs are cubes. And Coke Northern New England does cube packaging as well, both club and non-club.

It is real. But only available in Central and Eastern Canada, primarily Costco. Furthest west looks like Sudbury.

Cherry Coke was introduced some days ago for a limited time in another country: Japan.

I think you two are the only active Canadian users. We've had a few pop up from time to time, but not for a while.

How does it taste? You have Wild Cherry Pepsi, right? Can you compare the two?

I am a big Cherry Coke fan, and whenever I am in the area where I can sometimes find the sucrose version, I will dig through the shelf to see if I can find any. Haven't had any luck for a while, though.

I csn confirm my opinion that Cherry Coke in Canada tastes much better than Wild Cherry Pepsi.

EDIT: Picked up 3 more packs yesterday. Still around in Quebec.

Have yet to find it out west in the land of the reigning Grey Cup champions.

Hopefully a Costco run means that Coca Cola Canada looks at a spring/summer marketing blitz for the drink like Pepsi did for Wild Cherry a couple of summers ago.

I have found it, albeit not the Canadian version. Brit Foods on 8th Street in Saskatoon, imports the British version. It is very expensive $7 for a 1.75 litre bottle. But beggars can't be choosers. I've started visiting the ethnic grocery stores in Saskatoon for their oddball pop. Saudi Pepsi and Coke tastes slightly different and I like it. I don't have a Costco membership and haven't gone out there with my parents since before Christmas, so I'm not zure whether it appeared in Saskatoon. For now, I'll have to stick with paying the premium for the British version.

I'm sure if you are in Regina and not Saskatoon, you can probably find a British grocery that stocks the stuff. I just hope that CFIA doesn't seize it like they did with Brit Foods' Irn Bru.

Where did you read this? Proof? I want to believe this. It would do wonders for Target, honestly.

Anyway, I'm glad they say Eastern Canada. Usually it's Ontario and the West who get everything.

Today should have been the day. Though apparently there were some changes - Target is central Canada only now, Costco and local wholesale in central and east. Local wholesale just out of Brampton and L'Assomption, Costco out of all distribution centers.

Confirmed sighting of it at Costco here in the westend of Ottawa. Going to Target tomorrow and am hoping to see it there as well. I have some leftovers from my last trip to the states so ill be doing a taste test over the next few days.

So it's confirmed. Target in Ontario will be stocking it due to fan demand. As usual, nothing this cool in QC. Just Costco for us.

I sent Target a DM asking them to stock it here as well. Probably won't work, but you don't know if you don't try. I mean hell, we cross-border shop in QC too, ya know.

Glad you guys are finding it. Care to share a picture of the packaging, or is it the same look as when it was released last year?

GenesisWildCherry
11-21-2014, 08:30 PM
Yep. Costco packaging is mostly the same, except the cans now say "Bottled in Canada." And Coke promised an announcement on FB but still no word on what it is.

Update: Target is saying that the product is a huge hit with customers. :) This makes me warm and fuzzy inside. Maybe one day Coke will warm up to the idea of bringing it back here for good, since the product obviously sells. One can only hope. :P

So western Canada gets nothing then! If sales are so well in the east, I'm sure Coke would sell it across the whole country. Coke Canada is just not interested in expansion sales to be truthful. Vanilla Coke would be back on the shelves and selling very well as it did when they pulled it due to declining sales of Coca-Cola Classic making Pepsi number one at that time.

GenesisWildCherry
11-24-2014, 08:39 PM
I'm not sure why it's not in Alberta, sounds too weird to be a coincidence.

There's pride to be felt at the "Bottled in Canada" sign. I really do hope that Coke sees that this is a new, cross-border generation of Coke drinkers who want more selection and finally NOT pull Cherry Coke.

Dear Coke,

The fact that Target in Ontario has a high demand for Cherry Coke should tell you that we want flavour variations in Canada. Vanilla, Cherry, or heck, something regional like maple... Get it done.

Oh, and bring the cherry coke to the rest of the targets in the country.

Imagine for a second, a country where over half of the world's coolest products aren't available, or if they are, are never permanent. Imagine a place with piss-poor selection compared to the rest of the world. Picture if you will, a place where soda companies don't give a single f**k about what their customers want.

It exists. It's called "Canada".

I think your over exaggerating. Canada has plenty of soda flavors, maybe not as much as the U.S., but more than most countries in the world. If you want less soda flavors go to Spain or Argentina. No Cherry Coke in these countries. Coke, Coke Light, Coke Zero, Sprite, Fanta Orange, Fanta Lemon (Spain), Quatro Grapefruit (Argentina) and the Pepsi and Schweppes equivalents and that's it for carbonated flavors. They are all made with real sugar there and the Fanta flavors in Spain are really good so that's the trade off for less variety. No Root Beer, Dr. Pepper, or Mtn Dew in these countries. Other countries have even less variety like cola, light cola, lemon lime, and orange and that's it. Last time I went to Canada, they had Fanta Tangerine, Fanta Creme Soda, Raspberry White Tea Canada Dry Ginger Ale, and several Crush flavors I've never seen here. They have some unique flavors there, that's a far cry from "a piss poor selection", and they still use real sugar instead of HFCS I believe.

Coca-Cola Canada tweeted something out the other day asking twitter followers to indicated what their favourite coke flavour was, cherry, vanilla or original.

Odd considering they don't sell vanilla at all in Canada and cherry is limited to some Targets in Ontario.

Maybe they're up to something.

It's not so much complaining, it's frustration, annoyance, and more a question of "why do we have to travel to another country to get stuff we like" Aside from Ontario, which has Diet Coke Lime, most Canadians only have access to Coke's 5-or-so versions of regular Coke and want change. I in QC don't even have DCL, so Cherry Coke is a mecca.

I remember seeing a diet coke lime in a coke display case at the U of Saskatchewan. I bought it, but it was until after I opened it and heard no fizz that I noticed the expiry date was 2005.

But hey, we get lime pepsi so I guess we should shush... or so these companies think.

How big is Freestyle up there? I did some searching and see that they have machines in Canada. And that they have Pibb Xtra on them. And Fuze tea.

Of course not. :P Without Target, selection will go to hell here. Unless we can still count on Costco. Anyway, I'm done with shoppping in Canada anyway, so I'll be getting my Cherry Coke in your country. I'm tired of the lack of flavoured colas here, and I'm tired with the companies' excuses not to release them here. Especially Pepsi Canada. They pissed me off for the last time last week.

newCOKEcanuck
01-20-2015, 02:07 AM
We have no Freestyle Coke machines in Canada. I would like to know where you got your information that we do? No Pibb Xtra here. Here in western Canada Alberta and B.C. we have Diet Coke Lime in 12-packs cans only now and it sells great, it's never gone away here. Target has always had the worst soda pop selection up here in Canada as it only has a very small grocery area and never expanded it due to Target Canada was so poorly run and will be closing all stores by this June 2015. Target in the US is struggling too.
Vanilla Coke would be great if it came back as we use mostly real sugar up here, the taste would be great. The U.S. uses 100% HFCS which tastes terrible.

GenesisWildCherry
01-20-2015, 08:24 PM
I still think it sucks that Target had to get in the mess it did because it was spearheaded by absolute idiots.

I prefer Cherry Coke over Vanilla, so that never bothered me. But I'm worried pop selection will dwindle with fewer retailers to choose from. I wonder if Diet Coke Lime 12-packs will ever come here, though.

And there is (or used to be) Freestyles in Toronto.

sublimecitrus

Target wouldn't have ever expanded their selection anyways. For a company that invested billions coming to Canada, they sure gave up real easy. "We'll just come up to Canada, tell them to love us and mail it in. Empty shelves, poor selection... whatever, Canadians will flock to the brand."

Screw 'em.

If Pepsi wanted to get rid of Lime Pepsi and release Cherry Pepsi, I'd be on board. Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever seen someone drink lime pepsi in public. Ever. Or buy it. But I know that two summers ago cherry pepsi was sold out in a lot of places quite regularly.

Seems like these companies are too scared to take a risk.

Wow, Target. That is extremely lame on their part. You can't count on just copying the name over. The product has to be good too. They learned that the hard way. Which sucks because they had so much potential if they had just given us good products.

Anyway, the "unwilling to take risks" thing is what got me so ticked off with Pepsi Canada. They take risks in the States all the time. Changing formulas, introducing new products, etc. Here? Nothing. We get the same bland repetitive crap all the time. I know we're a smaller market, but these people must be blatantly ignorant of the fact that we cross-border shop for those products. Or they just
don't give a Christ about us.

I drink Pepsi Lime, even in public. I love it to death. But I reconsider what I said years earlier. I'd trade it for Cherry in a heartbeat.

We haven't even had Pepsi Throwback for a few years.

No one even tries.

Edit: Noticed that Pepsi Canada has posted "No plans for Wild Cherry Pepsi" on their facebook page every time it's requested.

Edit 2: Coca-Cola, instead of trying variety in Canada, is changing the sweetness of regular coke in Canada. And releasing smaller packaging. Sigh.

I'm starting to send people to the States for me and pick up some flavoured colas for me. I'm fed up with the lack of choice here. Canada (with the exception of Ontario and one or 2 other provinces) is a pit for soda lovers. The compaines' idea of selection is "4-or-5 varieties of the same goddamn thing, regular Coke and Pepsi". Come on. :P I'm sick of Pepsi Next as well, even though I sorta helped launch it. When are we ever going to get something different?

Okay. Pepsi gets points for giving us Code Red and Voltage Dews. but that's it.
