I'm not sure if this question has been asked recently. I was watching the movie Dirty Harry this morning. There was a hot dog joint that had a root beer barrel fountain. The kind that looks like an old time wood barrel.

Silly question. Is the barrel just a cover to a soda fountain or is there some sort of system to that mixes and cools root beer?

Probably just a cover. I've seen them in other places as well.
