Both Coke and Pepsi have energy and sport drinks, yes, but Coca-Cola and Pepsi cola are their flagship brands, the ones who put their name and logo out there. When sales of their namesake products decline, so does the potency of their name. I believe that Coke and Pepsi diluted their own sales by chasing Red Bull, Evian, and other smaller non-soda brands. B'sides, the average consumer doesn't pick up a Powerade thinking it's a Coke product.
