Splenda is being threatened to be pulled off the market by the FDA because of concerns it causes stomach ulcers. Could this signal the death of many drinks that contain splenda, such as Aquafina Flavor Splash? At least it'll eliminate a diet coke from the market...

Or maybe they'll bring back that wonderful old Diet Mountain Dew that tasted so much less artificial and had so much less of an aftertaste than the new stuff [/sarcasm]

I don't know what they'll do in Mexico, if they'll keep allowing it to be put in sodas made outside the U.S. They used to do this with acesulfame potassium(used in Coke Zero, Pepsi One, etc.) back in the early 90s when it was banned by the FDA. It was allowed by Coca-Cola to be used in Coca-Cola Light in Europe. If they do something similar with Splenda remains to be seen.

Right as I am typing this I see a commercial with this old diabetic guy saying how great splenda is and how is life is peaches and cream because of Splenda.

Okay, so I exaggerated a bit in my description, but the guys that make Splenda aren't going down without a fight.

There have been concerns over aspartame for as long as I can remember, and that hasn't been pulled off the market. Heck, saccharin is still around, even though it's not nearly as rampant as it once was. So honestly, I don't see Splenda going anywhere.

I hate Splenda in soda, but love the powdered variety for tea and coffee.

I guess Sunett might be the alternative if it's actually pulled.

Hey, weren't cyclamates re-evaluated as being safe now? From what I heard they taste the closest to sugar.
