I'm a student, and recently I've heard a shop steward at a local Crown Cork & Seal plant speak about aluminum soda cans, among other things. The point being made is that everything is plastic now. Plastic bottled water is huge, along with sodas and sports drinks.

I, for one, prefer the taste of a cold Dr.Pepper in a metal can rather than a plastic bottle. Perhaps if companies could can water, rather than bottle, it would make a difference. That may get into matters of efficency and practicality. Plus, nobody may really care about it one way or the other.

What does anybody else think? Is the aluminum can dying out? Does anybody even care about my topic?

I think that a lot of soda companies would like to do away with aluminium cans just because plastic is a little cheaper. But I don't see it going away any time soon. PET bottles are cheaper, but they take up more room on a shelf. Cans are nice and compact, and they hold in the cold slightly longer than plastic. At least that's what i've always thought.

1. Glass Bottle
2. Aluminum Can
3. 20oz. Plastic Bottle
4. 2 litre Plastic Bottle

I have to admit that is why I like SumPoosie Energy Drink it is in a glass bottle and is made with REAL CANE SUGAR!

Not many can say that anymore.... too bad

OK, anyway, the can will remain simply because it is the most efficient mode for vending.

As to it in the retail venue, that is questionable. It may be dying out.

The aluminum can shall live forever! Or else I shall be forced to change my name to "JuicyBoxKing", or "PlasticBottleKing". But that will never happen.

I think the death of the glass bottle is more imminent
