I am totally addicted to the stuff. I'm the type that as soon as I cross the MasonDixon line I start looking for Southern Sweet Tea.

I hear the real sweet tea line is further south.. like southern Virginia. In Maryland, it's still iced tea.

I've noticed that the Sweet Tea is available in certain markets. Here in PA we have it but when I traveled to NJ and OH last fall it wasn't on the menu.
That can get ugly for an addict like me. I wish they would sell it by the gallon like Chick-Fil-A sell theirs.
And yes, I believe that REAL sweet tea is brewed further south than Mason Dixon Line, I meant as soon as I leave the northern states I do look forward to drinking it.Last edited by chimchim; 01-18-2008 at 10:17 AM.

i'm sorry but mcd's sweet tea is NOT southern sweet tea. its generic tea, sweetened with sugar after it has been brewed and it DOES have lemon in it. Real sweet tea has the sugar (a lot of it, another thing the mcd's is missing enough of) added while the tea is brewing, this way the sugar completely melts into the tea. and it never ever ever ever has lemon in it. the only bottled sweet tea ive ever had that comes pretty close to the real thing is by tradewinds and its called....drum roll....southern style sweet tea. lolol -- winn dixie brand is also pretty good. as far as some people saying its too sweet, well .. its called sweet tea for a reason lol. we like our sugar down here, sugar glazed ham, sweet tea, we eat sugarcane straight up, we loooove our sodas. that could be why the highest percentage of diabetics is in the south. ???

As Mr. Zabe mentioned, McDonald's Sweet Tea has rolled out here in the Chicago area. It's being branded as Mickey D’s Sweet Tea, but I think most folks will still just call it McDonald's Sweet Tea

Being a Chicagoan all my life, I can't say that I really know what a good sweet tea should taste like, so I tapped into a friend of mine who grew up on the stuff (and is originally from South Carolina) to help with a sweet tea beverage review.
He felt it wasn't as sweet or strong in tea flavor as it should have been, but was a decent shot at attracting a broad market, which is obviously what McD's is attempting to do here. It's probably going to be an uphill battle for acceptance of the drink is markets that aren't used to the concept of sweet tea.
It should be noted that in all of its marketing materials and inaugural $1 pricing, McDonald’s is pushing the 32 oz. size, which according to their nutritional info, is the "Large" and packs 230 calories. I'm not really sure about the sugar content, as that info hasn't been specifically provided, but if I read what info they do provide correctly, it's probably around 59g of sugars for the 32 oz. size.
