Default Glass-bottled Bubble Up & Dad's Root Beer

Over the weekend, I was surprised to find 12-oz. glass bottles of Bubble Up and Dad's Root Beer in a World Market store in Winston-Salem, NC.

It seems that these drinks (and a few more) changed ownership last year.

Yeah, I believe the Bubble Up was purchased from Monarch by Hedinger Brands (which controls Dad's Root Beer).

As for the glass bottle, the one I have notes that it was manufactured under license by Orca Beverage Soda Works.

The bottle that I bought says that it was bottled by Orca "under the authority of the Dad's Root Beer Company."

I hope that these brands find their way back into more of the U.S.

I saw this in an ad for World Market a few weeks back. Unfortunately when I got to the store it was sold out. I believe they also had Nu-Grape in bottles as well.

There's a Mom and Pop store here in town that just started carrying Ski in longneck glass. The bottles have cool retro graphics.

I picked up some Bubble Up yesterday. I've been waiting over a month for Dads bottles. The store I'm buying from says he has to wait until the Moxie syrup arrives at the bottler before his order can ship. I guess he has to buy a certain amount of product before they ship and waiting for Moxie is holding it up.
I asked the owner about Double Cola and Ski and he will do some research. He is finally getting Cheerwine from West Jefferson but because of distribution rights he, of course, can't get RC and Dr Pepper.

Maybe if you bought some of the Moxie cream soda, that would speed things up :-). I'm not a fan of it "straight", but it works wonderfully as an ice cream soda base. An interesting fruitiness that acquires a banana-like flavor in the presence of chocolate syrup.
