Interesting article in the WSJ about Pepsi limiting the amount of plastic used in non-soda drinks.

    What do you guys think?

A thinner version of the PET bottle is available. As soon as it becomes strong enough for the carbonated soft drinks look for those to be in thinner bottles as well. The reason they are not used now in soda is due to the carbonation and the nitrogen used in production make it too weak to withstand the handling shipping and "other" shakes along the way; it creates too much pressure and could result in failure.
For those old enough to remember it will be somewhat like going from the "hard" metal soda cans to the new light weight aluminum.
Whether you think can or think you can\'t, you\'re probably right!

Nice insight, Greg. I'm not exactly old enough to remember these "hard" metal soda cans, but it'll be fun someday to look back on this plastic bottle switch and say ah, remember when we wasted so much..

I think Indra Nooyi and other senior execs at Pepsi did the right move here.

The new plastic bottles with less plastic are not very comfortable and are flimsy. I have had a encounter with one that I dropped and my plastic bottle broke.

It's already difficult to stack Aquafina on the hand truck. This will make it impossible. More "green" b.s.

I always liked those thick steel cans. I wish they would drop plastic altogether and go back to glass.
