The great thing about being Coke and or Pepsi is that these mishaps actually aren't that bad. It gives the consumer time to relaize that thier coveted CSD isn't so bad after all while it gives the big guys a new angle to learn from.
Innovation is great and usually comes from a smaller group that gives it time to nurture only from the fact that it is all the smaller group has. With that being said, sometimes the big guys don't give the new products an honest life cycle because if it doesn't hit hard and furious it is deemed a failure. Furthermore, , the rollout form a big guy is somewhat sloppy. Sure they have great POS and man power on the street, however, an identity has not been established and therefore the brand kind of just "is".
