If what you did yesterday still looks big, you haven't done much today.
If anything was a failure regarding the Throwbacks, it was the packaging and design. Horrible, horrible. From the comments I was reading on blogs and Twitter, seemed to be a lot of customer confusion over the whole thing.
I got in contact with the original design firm that created the prototype packaging that Pepsi didn't end up using (and instead went with an Arnell design). They played it cool because they wanted to keep Pepsi business, but you could tell they weren't too happy about the way things played out.
Overall MD Throwback was okay, although it wasn't that much superior to regular MD. I do think that Pepsi should look into going with Pepsi Throwback as a permanent addition to the line. It was awesome.
Wal-Mart turns over products so quickly, they are usually the first to run out. You should check smaller stores, mom and pop grocery/convenience stores, etc.
I know the Mapco gas stations are still flooded with the 20oz bottles. My wife and I actually found four cases of fridgepacks ($3 each) at WallyMart yesturday. They were buried behind regular Pepsi.
She looked and saw them and quickly snatched all four and dropped them in the cart. These will definitely last forever. The fridgepacks appear to be non-existent in smaller C shoppes. The Mapco near me has a stack of 20oz cases in the front of the store. I'll see if I can stock up (2 for $2) as they get closer to date.
On a side note, WallyMart had PLENTY of Throwback Dew. Guess nobody likes it.

I wouldn't care if the design was solid "Pepsi" blue;
all I want is the Pepsi (glass) formula I enjoyed in
the 70's. The TB stuff is at most a quasi
hyped Pepsi marketed to the younger demographic that
have not tasted "real, old school" Pepsi.
Venting over.
