I found TB Pepsi and TB Mountain Dew at the Mount Prospect,IL
Jewel near the Randhurst Shopping center. They had fridge packs on
the main display,20oz six packs on the shelf and on a small display there
    were individual 20oz bottles.

Overall, I was impressed. Loved the taste, still hate the package design. I actually was able to do side-by-side tasting with HFCS Pepsi and Kosher Pepsi, and it was interesting to note the differences... surprisingly between Kosher and Throwback. Didn't expect that (Kosher tasted much sweeter, Throwback was more subtle).
I once got a Kosher-for-passover Coke that appeared to be sweetened with 100% glucose. I'm not sure how that happens, but maybe something like that could be going on here.... I've observed that if you keep unopened soda refrigerated for about 8 years, eventually HFCS (fructose+glucose) becomes glucose+glucose, but I would think since that should be less sweet than HFCS (because fructose is more sweet than glucose), then if they're adjusting the HFCS to match sucrose, the double-strength glucose ought to be LESS sweet than properly-brixed sucrose. Maybe the KFP soda is deliberately made sweeter, or the Throwback is being deliberately made less sweet!

Of course, there are more things going on than just sweetness when it comes to HFCS vs sucrose. I've noticed that HFCS soda seems "wetter" than sucrose soda (watch it come from a tap -- HFCS soda has the viscosity of colored water, but sucrose soda will form tiny bubbles), but paradoxically, it seems to dry out my mouth more. I credit this to the higher hygroscopicness of fructose -- sucrose doesn't bind with water as much. Did you notice anything in this area?

    Smile good ole' Hillbilly Dew

I found the sugared dew and pepsi @ the wallmart in tri-county, Cincinnati area.

I have been telling my kids for years about "real sugar pop" and how the HFCS pops don't cut it. We all agree the Kosher coke is superior, but the 2-liters have a short shelf life. Finally the kids got some West Jefferson Mountain Dew in a bottle two years ago @ Myrtle Beach (they still use real sugar folks) and they were blown away.

Fast forward to now. Well, you old timers like me who drank a cold Dewski in a 16 or 12 ounce hillbilly bottle remember how good the pop WAS. Well, the HFCS dew just didn't taste like dew to me, I had switched to diet dew years ago and never thought I would get back THAT TASTE.
Today I bought 3 -12 packs of MOUNTAIN DEW--not MTN DEW sorry pepsico, but the texting form of this drink doesn't cut it for me- also bought two 12 packs of throwback pepsi.

The kids said it best-the dew tasted lighter, sweeter, smoother, and more "citrusy". The pepsi was the same-better, cleaner. The Dew for me personally was more eye opening--kinda like an old recipe that died when your grandma passed and you forgot to get it-you remember the taste but think it will never be back-well the DEW just made me smile! The unique dew taste is there folks. The old timers will know EXACTLY what i mean, younger drinkers will just think it's a new and improved version.

PEPSI-THANK YOU FOR THE OLD RECIPES. KEEP THESE A PERMANENT PART OF YOUR LINEUP. CHARGE A PERMIUM FOR THE SUGAR IF YOU HAVE TO, BUT PLEASE KEEP THIS AN OPTION! Thanks!

First and foremost, I enjoyed my first bottle of TB Pepsi.
The "pure sugar" sweetner was amazing. The overall
taste was dead on wonderful. As others have said, the
bite/carbonation was a bit weak. I would love to see Pepsi
tweak up the carbonation. That being said, even if the carbonation
were not tweaked, I would still buy it on a regular basis.

    Default where's the orange juice?

I have had a minimum of three bottles of Mountain Dew a day every day for the last 25 years. Needless to say I was eagerly awaiting my first Dew Throwback . I hate to say I was a bit disapointed. As I was drinking it, I noted to my wife that it didnt have the flavor burst of a West Jefferson Dew ( It's been two years since I had one, but they were the best I ever had) I took a peek at the ingredients and couldnt believe my eyes when I realized there was no concentrated orange juice!!!! As far as I know th OJ has always been a prominent ingredient in Mountain Dew so I find it puzzling that it is missing in a so called throwback recipe I just checked my Hillbilly bottles It wasn't listed on the bottle caps or bottles but It only mentioned a couple of ingredients in fact the bottle only said " less than 1/10 of one percent of benzoate of sda and us certified color added" but the bottles I have from the mid 70's do list concentrated orange juice.... Anyway It ought to be in this new release...I do enjoy the throwback Dew It's just not what it could be....

I was wondering what would happen if you could get some "citric acid" and like, add a drop or two to the Pepsi Throwback and see how that would affect it.

I was also wondering if they didn't intentionally tweak these a little bit so that they were NOT as good as they could be... not wanting people to realize just how much better the old formulas were...

Interesting point. I just drank an ice cold
bottle of TB Pepsi poured over rinsed ice (glass tumbler).
Surprise LOL, it had a slightly better mouth burn and a much better throat burn, which I really enjoy. Granted compared to the HFCS version it is
    not as strong carbonation wise.

Maybe it's the Coke Zero ice phenomenon?

Also, the caffeine buzz rocks. Holy eye roller. LOL

I tried some of the Pepsi Throwback and agree with the opinions of everyone else. It isn't bad at all. The sweetness is more subtle, but there seems to be something missing. Maybe not quite sweet enough? I'm no expert here. The bottle sais 'natural sugar' and not cane sugar of course. I wonder if it just isn't that we have all become use to the flavor of the regular versions. I would buy more and i think it will sell. On another note, I couldn't find the mountain dew anywhere yet.

My can of MD Throwback lists citric acid in the ingredients.
