Places that only have 20 oz bottles don't really help Throwback sell out quicker in all cases. Once the .99 cent offer is gone (if the store has this offer at all), those small bottles can cost as much as 1.59 (before tax and deposit), thus discouraging many people (other than those who normally buy 20 oz bottles) from buying Throwback. This is one problem that Mountain Dew Throwback had in the New York area. The other problem, was it not being in some stores at all, even those that had Pepsi Throwback.
2 liters as low as .88 don't make really Throwback (20 oz) look that appealing at all (other than real / natural sugar). The 12 packs can be good if you can get them lower than 3.00 and without any minimum purchase requirements.
I think next time Pepsi should also put these in 2 liter bottles as well to increase distribution and sales. NFL Lemon Kickoff was a LTO that was also in 2 liter bottles, so why not Throwback.
