Orange Root Beer vs Orange Soda

I think it is funny. I just read the review of Jones Orange Cola and Bevnet liked the combo. However do the same thing with a Root Beer (ahem-Rootjack) and they think it is a horrible idea. Of course in both instances BevNet believes that the products won't sell.

We just got back from Gencon, Indianapolis where we gave out samples of RootJack. We weren't allowed to sell in the convention center so we couldn't compete with the convention center's drink sales. However the downtown RAM brewery was selling it. In 3 days they sold 984 bottles of our unknown drink with nothing more than a poster in the window. They would have sold more, but they kept running out of stock each night.

We're a new company, so we're still looking for distribution in most parts, but we're coming. Soon the world will know the power of Pirate Energy! Yarrr!

Now, now....We don't think it's a horrible idea! No one ever said that.

I guess I was hoping RootJack would be described as something better than an "okay blend". So perhaps "horrible" was a bit strong. The only other description of the flavor was "orange root beer isn’t exactly a flavor that whets the appetite".

So if that doesn't describe what you thought of the taste, then what DID you think of the taste?

I did learn one thing from the BEVNET review, I need to push the Vitamin C more. People seem to over look the full daily dose of Vitamin C, thus it fights scurvy, thus the pirate theme.

Oh, just to be clear, I think orange and cola is awesome. I haven't had this Jones yet, but as long as they didn't wimp out on the flavor like they do on some of their other drinks (*cough* green apple *cough*), I imagine it is pretty good. So I'll definitely be picking it up.
