I would appreciate any help anyone could give me on how to produce a beverage concentrate from scratch at home. I want to use all natural ingredience and do not want to use any artificial colorings, flavors, or additives. Can anyone out there help me?

Snatch a copy of Beverage World and look for the flavor company ads. Or better yet contact them and get a copy of their annual report. It always has folks listed.

boodoo, thanx for the response. I was more interested if anyone knew how to make a beverage concentrate rather than contracting from a flavor house.

If I had to speculate on how to make a concentrate it would appear to me that I would have to collect whatever flavoring agent I was interested in and continue to boil it down until I had a very thick almost resin type of consistency. For example. If I were to use strawberries I would need to mash them and biol off as much of the water as I could and continue to add mashed fuit until I had a very thick consistency.

Thus, I raise the question again. Does anybody out there know how to make a soft drink concentrate using only natural ingredience and can I make it at home??

Xfile - you're a jackass!! Why the **** do you want to make an "all natural soft drink" when you can buy whatever you want at the store? Do you really have that much time on your hands that you want to make an all natural concentrate? I bet you're one of the granola eating, tree hugging, butt-****s that lives off soy beans because they're "natural". Guess what dip****? The beans are fertilized using chemicals!! Get a life you dumb-****!

man what anger!! but thinking about it why waste all the time doing that at home go to the store and buy some strawberry syrup and make your own or even cheaper buy a 2 liter of pop. the dollar you spend on the 2 liter i would think would be well worth the several hours you would spend cooking down the strawberries.. just my opinion not trying to offend anyone...
If what you did yesterday still looks big, you haven't done much today.

To all that responded to my post back in November 2002 thank you.

It was simply my goal to see if anyone knew how to make an all natural concentrate.

Yes, it would be cheaper to go to a store and purchase a syrup. The problem however is that the syrup may not be all natural.

In closing, with regard to this type of product. There is a growing number of people that favoe all natural products. It is my belief that if this product does not exist today it will someday.

Again, thank you to all who responded to my post.

I'm making such a product. But I consider the process as proprietary as the recipe. See my post in the General forum. I have questions of my own...
