I am a student at the University of Colorado doing a project (for a Product Development class) on Smoothies--essentially developing a new smoothie product, developing mkt launch plan, sales projections, pro forma financials and positioning. I am having trouble finding info. outlining consumer preferences about smoothies.

I would be willing to share all my research and final product with anyone offering my insights--I could even modify my project to help an industry insider trying to develop a smoothie product (or someone who has a product in market and would like someone to do legwork for them).

thanks in advance for your help,

I have never seen a good smoothie in a can. My definition of smoothie involves a smooth iced (slushie type) beverage that is made with fresh fruit or other ingredients. There are a number of smoothie cocentrates on the market, wholesale by the gallon, but we have never used them. We sell 3 fresh made smoothies made in house- A fruity booty (made with mixed fruit), Chunky Carob Monkey (carob, chocolate, penut butter banana), and a pina colada. Folks can then add various boosts and junk to it.

Speaking of smoothies, Minute Maid just launched one in Dallas.. called BeginIt. It's a refrigerated product.

Check out Beverage Digest for more info.
