Have you heard anything about a boycott of all Coca-Cola Products by Southern Heritage Groups? Back in 2001 Coca-Cola contributed $1,500.00 to each Georgia Legislator who voted to change the Georgia State Flag. Coca-Cola sales are off badly in the state of Georgia.

Lest anyone think I'm crazy the above links to a Petition demanding Coca Cola get out of politics.

The link below demonstrates why Coca-Cola is losing share to Pepsi, especially in the South.

Funny that you post this..... I posted a new message on a different thread (free for all) then got chastized for talking politics on BEVNET with no beverage context in my topic.

At least your topic does have a beverage spin.

And ... to comment...Coke should be careful, Pepsi is starting to own the south even Atlanta (Cokes HQ).

Coke is always subject to boycotts. Nobody likes them.

I do know that some of those contributions were made, but I don't think an actual direct offer like that was done. Remember at the same time, Coke was fighting a pretty serious discrimination lawsuit and any direct offers like that would have been trouble.

Georgia has two different views. Many liberal city folks tend to be very into Civil Rights/discrimination cases, since the liberals in the city benefit from these cases. However, most of the rest of the state away from Atlanta is very conservative. They tend not to benefit from minority-favored legislation. Not ****ed up, just two different views. Some of the liberals in the city got in trouble for gerrymandering recently. I believe it was Cinthia McKiney (don't know how to spell her name) that made the districts so that almost all favored the Democratic party (e.g. districts that ran literally just more than the width of the highway).

That had nothing to do with beverages, but oh well.

It wasn't Cynthia this time (it was in the 1990's). Just your standard political screwover. Now, the 11th circuit has redrawn the districts and we will get a new group of spineless fools.
