saw this board, thought i'd put in my $2 worth! From what I see, Monster will soon be the #2 E drink in america. they have the best marketing plan this side of austria. i've seen some E drinks that think they will be big fall on their own words (bookoo, raw dawg, amp, full of it throttle). yeah, monster will actually be the #1 E drink from an english speaking country run by non-nazis.

Amp has been solid though. I cant speak for the rest of the market, but Monster is the #3 brand out here in SF and like #5 selling SKU behind RB, RB4PK, RS, RBSF 4PK, then Monster. I want to say in Sacramento either Monster or RS is actually above RB in the market data...good for them...not close here in SF though.

Sounds like Monster is getting more and more aggressive. Like I said in a previous post they put a pinch in Red Bulls business here in the metro area. And the distributor isnt even doing a good job.

The Red Bull distributor in this area has a team of 9 vans. And for some reason they are now throwing it on their beer loads for chain stores. Maybe a decline in sales? I dont know.

Its mainly for relationship reasons, but partially because of time. The chains, as we all know cut off recieving at early times. This frees up the reps to do more things in the normal route. Also, the beer reps have good relationships with the store managers, and since they are not just in and out with one item, RB ties into their relationship. Out here, the San Francisco dist. has a van team, but since they carry almost every beer under the sun outside of Budweiser, they have great relationships with a lot of bars and clubs. So the beer guys get to sell RB to these places.
    Thats just my thoughts though.
Monster is getting very agressive out here. Not seeing a lot of extra growth yet, but they have great numbers. 10 times better than if they just stuck with Hansens energy

Monster was developed to be sold. Just like Fuze. They are already trending towards big houses , not the small independants that made them. Like fuze ( going Coke)

monster is overly aggressive. while they have a relatively strong presence in the market they still have yet to make a dime. Jones soda is pushing strong towards the energy catagory. There new 8.4 once in target is probably the best E drink I've sampled.

I dont know why Hansens would look to sell Monster. And in this market, Monster has been with the big houses. Problem they have had, is many of these houses have Rock Star too. So Monster does not always get the best spots in the cooler or handled they way they would like.
I would have to say with Jones Sodas Energy Drink, that their target brand is their weakest entery into the market. Whoop Ass was novelty, Jones Energy has some movement. And while their Target 4 packs look pretty cool, their price has screwed them, IMO. $4.99 for a 4 pack, and on sale for $4.49. Thats very cheap. Now, if they ever want to sell that brand to the open market, they have to sell it for the same price to the distributor, and hope they sell it at a reduced price as well. But now you are pricing your own drink against Whoop Ass and Jones Energy. But outside of the priceing, it appears to be a good product.

Fuze may be in the hands of Coke, but only the smaller independent bottlers. CCE and CCBCC haven't touched it.

DPSUBG and Kalil also carry Fuze in certain markets.
