It appears the end is near for ALL Slice brands... The last of orange slice has been shipped out and Cheerwine and Diet Cheerwine has replaced Dr. Slice (Cheerwine is not a good replacment!) No word on what if anything will replace pineapple, peach, fruitpunch, and Slice Red. Slice Orange, Grape, and Strawberry is said to be replaced by the Tropicana stuff... ya it is a sad day...
I did get a hold of some of the remaining stock of slice flavors and or on Sale at www.xanga.com/saveslice

Cheerwine is not a replacement for anything. It's a drink that is completely unique and original.. you should be on your knees thanking the beverage gods that you are blesssed with the opportunity to purchase that fine drink.

Somehow I think this thread is less about mourning the loss of Slice, and more about pimping someone's site.

I was surprised when I saw it in a Walmart in Illinois last weekend, I bought one, as I hadn't had Cheerwine but once before, and that was in glass. In plastic 20oz PET, I wasn't really very impressed, unfortunately..

Glass is the only way to go with Cheerwine. The difference between cane sugar and HFCS is amazing.

The other day I had, after a long flirtation with Diet Cherry Vanilla Dr Pepper, a regular Diet Dr Pepper. I must say it is MUCH better, to me, than the DCVDR stuff.

To me, the Cheerwine tastes very much like DCVDP. I suspect that Dr Pepper may have formulated Cherry Vanilla Dr Pepper (the regular, non-diet version of which is starting to appear here now) in order to ward off Cheerwine, which is expanding.

I must say I think I like Cheerwine better than Cherry Vanilla Dr Pepper. I don't think I remember ever trying Dr Slice, and most generic versions of Dr Pepper are just horrid things, like Dr K at Kroger (which I must say is at least better than the generic version of Mountain Dew that Kroger sells...ICKAROONEY! Tastes like really, really watered down Mountain Dew plus with a slightly off, almost rancid taste. Is there actually someone out there who likes that stuff? And that isn't their worst generic...that honor goes hands down to Big K Lemon Lime. Regular or diet. EGADS!)

So, in other words, it tastes like Mello Yello?
