I've been mulling over in my head whether or not I should buy some Crystal Pepsi (pepsi clear) off of Ebay.

    My question is this,

Would I die if I drank it? Because I plan to drink it.

This goes for all old beverages ordered off of Ebay...would it be unsafe to say drink a can of Pepsi Kona or a bottle of Orbitz? I really want to know.

    Thanks.

I'll warn you if there's some auction on Ebay selling the mexican Pepsi Clear, it's more new... and safe.

Thanks man, I guess I could settle for that.

I was really worried about drinking a 13 year old bottle of soda... but I would like to have tried it.

I set aside some of the original Crystal Pepsi when it got reformulated. After it was a year old, it started to taste "off". I remember when I worked for Pepsi, we found an old can of Crystal Pepsi rolling around in the back of one of the machines we filled. I grabbed it, it was probably a couple of years old by then, and it tasted not good at all. And it had been chilled all that time. I definately would not want to drink one that's been around longer than that!

I found a bottle of DNL about a month ago. It had been "expired" for about 6 months. I thought, "How bad can it taste" and opened it. After tasting the first sip, I wish I had not even tried it. IT WAS NASTY!!! It didn't even resemble the original DNL taste. Oh well, I won't try that again.

So, if I were you, I wouldn't make that attempt. remember how great some of the old brands tasted and leave it at that.

    Just my advice though!

I had 4 cases of Diet Caffeine Free Dr. Pepper in my basement for almost 2 years. Year round it was about 60 degrees down ther with no direct sunlight reaching the cans. Before I threw it out I had to taste it. It actually tasted normal.
I took into account that no direct sunlight and a constant low temperature preserved it.
At the same rate, I have had a 2 liter Pepesi that was in date and that had been stored in a gravity feed shelf up against a window at a convenience store....The sunlight just about bleached out the label and the constant change in temperature broke down the sugar and preservatives. Nasty

Back to your original ?? If it is original Crystal Pepsi I would'nt buy it to drink, however, if you are a collector and it is in good shape and the color of the product and the label is in good condition I would buy it.
Whether you think can or think you can\'t, you\'re probably right!

That's interesting, greg, because artificial sweetener degrades much quicker than sugars.

Anyway, Nick, also don't forget that if you do go for Mexican Crystal Pepsi, that it may not be the same formula. Ramon might know, but usually even adjacent countries like Mexico and the US can have different soda formulae regionalized for local tastes.

    But it's worth a try.

I always wanted to try ChiChi's mexican restaurants. Here in OKC they have been out of business for about 15-18 years. I wonder if anyone has any to go boxes left in their fridge after all this time? It would still be good if it was kept cold wouldn't it?
Seriously, DO NOT drink Crystal Pepsi that has been expired that long. It could and most likely WILL make you very sick.
If what you did yesterday still looks big, you haven't done much today.
