Smile Aaagh - I can't taste carbonation anymore!

Okay - so here's kind of a crazy post/thing! I'm a total soda pop freak, and I love the burn/sensation you get from the carbonation, but I recently started taking a new medication to help ward of my migraines (Topamax) and I now no longer have any sense of carbonation, seriously - everything tastes flat! Is that totally crazy or what? Anyway, I'm hoping this goes away over time, as I feel like my love for soda has been totally ruined. Just a crazy thing I thought I'd post!

I feel your pain.
A big DITTO on the love of the carbonation burn.
The burn is like water to a gold fish. LOL

I would try drinking some seltzer water with no food
and with a very dry mouth. I find that right when I wake
up in the morning, an ice cold seltzer water has a good burn.
(Do not brush your teeth.)

Gosh I must sound like some quack.
I will search the cyber highway for info.

Soda freaks are cool. LOL

Thanks Mr. Zabe! I'll try that, although I'm not sure it will change anything. My doctor said it actually has to do with certain receptors in my brain being turned off that actually directly perceive carbonation, so now I have no perception of it whatsoever. I had no idea your brain could actually directly target those receptors! I'll try the seltzer water thing, though. Do you recommend any in particular? It seems to me that I've only tried seltzer water on a few occasions and it was nasty! Of course, it may have been a store brand. Thanks for the advice. Glad to hear somebody else appreciates a good "soda burn!"
