We met a little while ago at an event at Tavern on the Green.
A friend of mine in Australia owns a company that has an energy drink that has been launched into China. The drink, called "LEAP" has been received well across the Chinese market and currently enjoys a few percentage points market share. They are looking to expand and are seeking $2m in investment.
This is a snapshot of the opportunity:
1. The business is fully established including the manufacture, distribution and supply chain.
2. Company has established distribution deals to retail the drink throughout the Chinese market at retail level
3. Since its launch in June 2007, over 12,000 cases (24 cans/case) or 288,000 cans of LEAP have been sold.
4. LEAP is sold in key accounts including BP, Shell, Caltex, Esso and 7-11 stores.
5. Company is seeking to raise AUD$2.2m (USD$2m) to assist with the expansion of operations into the Guangdong Province of China
6. The LEAP energy drink was created to exploit a significant opportunity identified in the Chinese energy drink market - these are outlined in the Information Memorandum
7. The Chinese energy drink market approximated US$472.9 million in 2007 and forecasts the market to be US$638.4 million by 2012, a compound annual growth rate of 6.2%
8. Red Bull is the main competitor of the LEAP drink
