If we're going to talk about aspartame, lets also take a minute to discuss sucralose AKA Splenda. Take a look at the dangers of this increasingly popular 'diet' sweetner. There is a ton of great sucralose info here: http://www.karlloren.com/Diabetes/p40.htm

Ever hear that old saying, that if something looks too good to be true, it probably is?

Did anyone ever hear of a new sweetner called Tagatose marketed under the brand name Naturlose? It's made by a company called Spherix.
Know anything about it?

Interesting notes... anyone reading the page put up by "Dr." Mercola can readily ascertain that this person is most certianly Not a doctor. Also of note, every single Anti-splenda site lists the same source...the "Dr". He does not report the actual facts on studies done on sucralose. Sucralose sweetener has been under intense study for Many years and has been on the consumer market for more than 10 years in Canada, during which time the USFDA has been researching sucralose. It appears the information on the dangers of sucralose came from the same source as "Bill Gates will pay you for every e-mail you send" and "Snakes in the ballpit at McDonalds"

If it's not natural, then it's probably not safe. Anyone with a brain should know that. And if you're on a diet you shouldn't even be drinking soda period. You should be drinking water. I know that from my own experience.

Yeah, well I'm sorry, but I like to drink something with flavor, something water doesn't have. And I also think the Splenda "studies" are BS and just a lame attempt at sparking controversy.

There is a lot of negative information that has arisen about Splenda recently though. I'm wondering if where there's smoke, there's fire.

(not directed at anybody) People always look for what's wrong with a new product before they look for the benefits. I've heard good & bad about it.
