    COCA-COLA ANNOUNCES NEW COCA-COLA UNSWEETENED

New Product Aims To Satisfy Demands For Different Types of Sweeteners

ATLANTA, April 1, 2006 - Coca-Cola North America has announced the newest member of the Coca-Cola family - Coca-Cola Unsweetened, which will be launched this July.

"Customers are always asking about the possibility of making Coke with different types of sweeteners, or blends of sweeteners," says Josh Hagerman, executive vice director, Coca-Cola North America, "but there's just not enough shelf space for all of them. Now, people will be able to have Coke made with whichever sweeteners they desire."

Coca-Cola Unsweetened will be supported by extensive marketing on television, radio, print mediums, billboards, and online advertisting, as well as sampling. "Coca-Cola Unsweetened will be aimed at the elite cola drinker - the one with the discerning taste buds who is always looking for the perfect way to satisfy their thirst," says Mary Wilcox, director of marketing, Coca-Cola Unsweetened. "Now they can customize Coke to their needs. And some people may even find that the taste of Coca-Cola Unsweetened satisfying enough that they don't add any sweeteners to it"

Coca-Cola Unsweetened will feature the same formula base as Coca-Cola Classic, but will not use any sweeteners of any type. The Coca-Cola Unsweetened Website will feature recommended amounts to use for several well-known sweeteners, including cane sugar, aspartame, saccharin, stevia, and Splenda, as well as various blends of sweeteners.

The launch of Coca-Cola Unsweetened marks the third launch of a product based on the Coca-Cola formula but using different sweetners - or none at all. It follows Coca-Cola C2, a "mid-calorie" cola sweetened with a blend of high fructose corn syrup and artificial sweeteners, and Coca-Cola Zero, a zero-calorie cola with the distinctive Coca-Cola flavor.

The Coca-Cola Company is the world's largest beverage company. Along with Coca-Cola, recognized as the world's best-known brand, the Company markets four of the world's top five soft drink brands, including Diet Coke, Fanta and Sprite, and a wide range of other beverages, including diet and light softdrinks, waters, juices and juice drinks, teas, coffees and sports drinks. Through the world's largest distribution system, consumers in more than 200 countries enjoy the Company's beverages at a rate exceeding 1 billion servings each day.

If this is a joke, it's a sick one.

News like this has the potential to excite a lot of people.

April Fools stories should involve let-downs, so people are brought back up when told the truth, not the other way around.

Uhh, yea. April Fools! Anybody who has ever tried to add a powdered substance (sugar,Sweet n' Low, Aspartame, Splenda, etc...) to a carbonated beverage knows it's a bad idea. It fizzes uncontrollably and makes an ungodly mess. Then when you've finally stirred enough for the powder to dissolve there's no carbonation left to speak of. There is no doubt in my mind this is an April Fools prank.

    I almost believe it!

Because in Mexico, December 28th is like our April's Fool day, where joke news appear or somebody makes you a joke... I completely forgot April's Fool...

And most of all, Coca-Cola never makes press releases on Saturdays d'oh!
