How would you compare Hires, Barq's and IBC? Also, I found (but didn't try) "Dad's Root Beer" in Huntsville yesterday. Anyone tried that?

Please rate all the root beers you've tried. Thanks.

i think dad's root beer is terrible.

i haven't seen hires in forever because when pepsi bought mug root beer, they stopped bottling a&w root beer and so 7up took that over and stopped bottling hires, therefore, i haven't seen or had a hires rootbeer in ages, i actually yearn for one.

    i'm not a barq's fan.

    IBC is aaaaaaaaaaaalright.

    a&w is great.

    So is GOose Island/Frosttop.

Of the four you mentioned, I'd have to rate IBC #1, Dad's #2, Barq's #3, and Hire's #4. My favorite is A&W at the restaurant in a one gallon jug.

Yeaaahhh, A&W on tap IS good.

    Ok, so it's...

    Mug
    Hires
    Barq's
    A&W
    IBC
    Goose Island/Frost Top?

    Please continue, friends.

Never had Hires, Dad's is OK, IBC is pretty good but very rare. MUG is total horse ****, Barq's is good for a cheap soda. A&W fountain style in a big class mug. Its just heavenly thinking about it. So but even in a bottle or can its still #1. But Barq's does have bite

The best Root Beers IMHO, in no particluar order:

    Abita
    Boylan's
    Frostie
    Stewart's
    Route 66
Dog N' Suds(nothing to do with bathtime for Fido!)
    Milligan's Island
    Henry Weinhard's

A&W is the best mass production RB, but down a notch from the 1975 launch product. I liked Ramblin', but it's gone. Barq's and Hires can be good on tap, but only fair in cans or bottles. Sam's choice was one of the better generics. Barq's was better before CC bought them.

    Here's my opinion:
    1. Hires
    2. Briars
    3. Frostie
    4. Barqs
    5. I.B.C
    6. A&W
    7. Dads
American Bottlings is like water without fizz.
    8. Mug (Pepsi's "On-Tap" was better)
    Mug tastes like dish soap!

I have seen Ramblin Rootbeer in Central Illinois recently I believe. I'll keep my eyes open next time I'm there.

Here is my opinion on the subject. In no particular order:
    1. Sprecher
    2. Goose Island
    3. Berghoffs
    4. A&W out of the tap
    5. Hanks
    6. Henry Weinhards
    7. Howies
There are a few others I can't remember right now.
