    Is there any precedent in the marketplace for a premium speciatly beverage (non-alchoholic) sold in a 12 oz. can above $1.00/can???

    Anybody else? We're developing a product in Brazil and the co-packer seems basically constrained to the 12 oz. can... Any precedent at all in the marketplace for this kind of pricing???

    If you market the product right you could get $4 a can. It is all in the marketing in my opinion.
    Here in South Florida there is a drink that comes in 4 packs. Non Alcoholic. I do not know what the flavor is but I know it is an ULTRA Premium soda and it sells for $6.99 per 4 pack. The Wire rack they sit in is alway pretty much empty and it hasn't been taken off the floor yet so that means they are moving.

    Interesting. My opinion has been that the precedent set by Coke and Pepsi for 50 cent 12 oz. cans would make it extremely difficult to sell at $1.49 or so.

    Your product's packaging, for example, has immediate differentiation. It was a brilliant move.

    So is it safe to say that I'm wrong, the 12 oz. can has not set a precedent as a value brand in the non-alcoholic category?

    If I understand youyr response correctly yes your are correct about being wrong. The 12oz segment can be anything you want it to be price wise. However, the way you position it in the marketplace by branding, advertising, packaging, ingredients, etc.

    I agree with Greg.

    As my 2nd cousin Bill Perv Bob use to say,
    "It's not the size,it's the motion(product quality,marketing,branding ect)" that determine whole sale and retail pricing.
