Although I don't drink beer... I wanted to ask you guys how is Corona Extra doing in U.S., because when I went to Vegas, I was amazed to see a lot of people drinking Corona in the streets, and also a lot of stores with Corona collectibles, specially in the Caesars Palace Mall... There's also another beers of Grupo Modelo on sale there like Modelo, Negra Modelo, Pacifico, Estrella, Leon, Victoria, Montejo?... or just Corona and Corona Light?
If somebody of you are a Corona fan and you come to Mexico... you'll find Corona everywhere (except the Light one), but there's two Corona "paradises" where you'll find a lot of Corona and the brands I mentioned before: the Extra convenience stores and Modelorama convenience stores...
En Mexico y en el Mundo la cerveza es...
(In Mexico and around the world, the beer is...)
TODO CON MEDIDA (DRINK RESPONSIBLY)

grupo modelo is en fuego.
corona is the number one imported beer to the u.s.
corona light is the number one imported light beer, although i heard it's really made in california.
modelo especial is also on fire.
pacifico is the next big push for modelo in america, although especial and negra will get continued emphasis.
other beers from mexico that sell like mad are tecate. sol is being introduced into more markets and is doing great from what i understand.
xx/xx amber are steady. cervezeria cuatehemoc or whatever was recently purchased by heineken, and that included carta blanca, xx, sol and tecate, as well as bohemia.
tecate, especial, corona reg/lt are all very massive.

I don't drink beer either. I do know that Corona
has a large segment of the market. They have a great bar and package business both in the city of Chicago and it's suburbs.

Negro Modelo is some great stuff. Tecate is decent but nothing you can't get cheaper domesticly- while Corona tastes really sharp to me- a lemon helps but I still can't stop thinking its just cheap swill. Never tried Corona Light based on my experience with the regular. Personally I'll take a Bells (#7 best brewery in the world according to ratebeer.com)- I may have only looked quickly but I don't think any Mexican brewers even made the top 100. Still I' always happy to hear that Negro is doing well!
Hey Pepsi, Shasta called, they want their lemon-lime back.

beer's all about volume and marketing. personally i'm a craft guy myself and have visited the bells brewery several times since i'm so close to it.
he's gonna make a run at sam adams - just you watch.
but corona is not where grupo modelo is really pushing, it's with modelo especial, especially with the 12pk bottle package although my distributor has had success with 6pk cans because mexicans identify better with cans or 32oz glass for certain beers, especial, tecate and carta blanca being three.

I generally drink craft beers or German imports.
Of the Mexican beers I like Dos Equis the best, folowed by Carta Blanca. Tecate is drinkable. Negra Modelo is a good dark beer.
Light flavorless things like Corona, Pacifica, Sol, etc. are horsepiss.

BTW I saw in a magazine that now Corona has its two billboards in Times Square, behind the Coca-Cola electronic billboard... Corona is really doing it well in U.S.!
