How hard is it to develop an energy drink? Does it cost a bunch of money or is it inexpensive? I was just curious about the easiest way to get started would be? I would love for someone to tell me how I could get started! Thanks!

The best way to get started on this is to figure out exactly what you want to do (flavor, color, ingredients, etc.) and then contact a flavor house and talk with them. The real costs that you run into are going to be assosciated with minimum quantities for cans (both empty and for filling them). You might also want to check out a company that does private label energy drinks... I believe EXE does.

Sounds good. Also, could you give me an estimated total cost with everything?

I had a lady develop a tea and she spent close to $20,000 for FDA approval, 10,000 bottles, caps, filling, and freight. The next run of 10,000 should cost about $1.00 a 16 oz. container and down to $0.70 a piece for 20,000 afterwards.

On the high end, a guy spent $220,000.00 for a drink that had all his packaging and everything else paid for, however the formula wouldn't be approved by the FDA so he never had the product hit the shelves.

Energy drinks are classified as "supplements" and thus do not require FDA approval. You had better plan on at least $50K if you want to produce and have funds to market/promote and distribute.
