Default Cadbury Schweppes makes another move

They're trying to expand their beverage business even as they are in the process of selling it....

I wonder if they're going after any other private bottling companies?

I wasn't aware they were in NY and NJ.

The last big boy would be Honickman, but they'd have to disentangle the Pepsi operations first.

    Default I was thinking about

Carolina Beverage Corp. They are well known for Cheerwine, but they also distribute the CS drinks through most of North Carolina.

Also, there are several small bottlers here and there in areas where CS depends on Coke or Pepsi bottlers to package their products.

If they bought out Carolina, they'd probably acquire the Cheerwine brand as well.

You've also got other regional bottlers who do a lot of copacking and canning/bottling for others, like Polar and RC Evansville.

The Northeast bottlers who manage the CSAB portfolio do a good job with their brands. The last remaining large CSAB bottler in the West is Kahlil (sp) which is in Arizona, El Paso and Southeast New Mexico.

The SeaBev purchase should fix many of the issues that CSAB has in Florida for all of their brands except Dr Pepper.

Yep, everyone in Phoenix knows the tag "FROM THE GOOD GUYS AT KALIL"

Kalil also serves the SW corner of Colorado as well...

    Kalil Bottling Co.

AND BTW... their DP ripoff is called "DR GOOD GUY"

Additional distribution/production acquisitions suggest that the sale of CS is imminent. Keeps the financing nice and clean for the new owners!

I think that the private equity groups that bought the European drinks business of Cadbury Schweppes have the best shot.
