    Default Starbucks

Just heard this on the radio maybe 20 min ago.... Starbucks announced that they will be closing 600-700 stores nationwide within the next month. Anybody know why? Are there sales hurting???

The AP story stated that these stores are underperforming company owned
stores. The down turn of the economy as well was stated in the article.
Face it at $5 a gallon gas, a $5 cup off coffee is a less affordable luxury splurge.
Heck a good old 75 cent can of vend soda pop really is a great bargain.

I think they also overbuilt stores/locations. Near my house there is a location in a Safeway, and along the highway in front of the store there is a freestanding location as well. Makes no sense to me.

Yeah they weren't smart in their excessive building of stores within too close proximity of each other IMHO ..

    Starbucks......Outstanding coffee/teas and mugs.
    Starbucks......D- in capital plaining,store planing.
Starbucks......just might get beat out of market share by economy
competition brands. Don't count McDonalds out of the game.

If I hear one more person in my office say that's what they get for charging $5 for a cup of coffee(which couldn't be further from the truth) I am going to beat them in the face with a crowbar.

They're closing stores in U.S.?, it's weird, cause here in Mexico Starbucks its opening more stores than I thought, for example just last december Starbucks opened its two stores here in Aguascalientes, and a few days ago Starbucks opened its store in our neighbor state Zacatecas...

In the Palm Beach Gardens mall there is a full service Starbucks on the 2nd level by the escalator, go down the escalator and there is another full service Starbucks location righ there at the bottom of the escalator.

Whether you think can or think you can\'t, you\'re probably right!
