    Default Pepsi Next

Hey everyone... I had a reader drop me an e-mail today that said the following: "I've just completed a screening for a market research company which next week is going to send me 3 cans of something called "Pepsi Next". Do you know anything about this drink?"

He provided the image that was used in the research study:

Of note is the text found in the PowerPoint slide:
Introducing Pepsi Next. The first soda to successfully bring together deliciously refreshing cola taste with less of the ingredients that you are trying to avoid.

That's because after years of trial, Pepsi experts have finally discovered the perfect blend of ingredients that allow you to have delicious taste with half the sugar and calories.
Is this Pepsi Edge/Coke C2 all over again?

Interesting. With 60 calories I'd say it's probably another Edge type drink. I liked Edge, actually. So if this comes out I'll probably at least try it.

I guess it's being called Pepsi Next because this will be the next failed product from Pepsi.

This might be Pepsi's first experiment with sweetner enhancers. Less sugar, but enhanced with some sort of chemical/extract that makes it taste like full calorie. Thought I saw somthing about this awhile back.

I wouldn't call BS quite yet.

Based on that image the only real information the customer has is that it's a Pepsi product and the government label says sixty calories. I would think it would say "Made with stevia" or something like that on the product.

BTW: Is it me or does Pepsi One look stupid with the old logo????

I was also thinking that - if it was Stevia it would have said something about it in that other writeup as well.

Pepsi One looks out of step with the rest, but I'm still glad to have the old logo out there in some fashion. It's also the only Pepsi product I buy currently. (but not because of the logo) As time goes by, the fact that they still haven't updated those graphics makes me think it's more and more likely to be on the chopping block, unfortunately.
