Sol Organica, LLC is the parent company of Burke-Agro de Nicaragua and Sol Simple LLC, leading natural and organic food processors in Central America. Burke Agro (www.burkeagro.com) processes and sells natural and organically certified dried and pulped tropical fruits (mango, dragon fruit, pineapple, banana, and others) for export to international markets. The company manages a team of agronomists that provides hands-on training and technical support to over 200 small farmers. Burke Agro sells bulk and private label products to various buyers of natural and organic foods, and has a presence in the U.S. market through the distributor and brand Sol Simple (www.sol-simple.com), found in select Whole Foods markets and leading independent natural and organic grocery stores.
About the Position
Sol Simple and Burke Agro are offering an exciting opportunity to a qualified candidate in an established, fast-growing natural and organic products manufacturer that has a market presence in the United States. Based in Nicaragua, the candidate has the opportunity to live in the tropical environment and work directly with a company committed to sustainability and helping small farmers.
The Sales and Marketing Manager will support the company’s Chief Executive Officer and help build a sales plan and team to develop and implement an effective international sales and marketing strategy. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, has strong communication and organizational skills and has proven sales and marketing experience. A key part of the position is to expand sales and help develop new products and sales channels that connect marginalized farmers to the U.S. and European markets.
This opportunity would allow a candidate to work with the company for a minimum of six months, allowing the candidate to help train an assistant and evaluate the possibility of continuing with the company on a longer-term basis. The position requires a self-motivated, passionate, organized person with some natural and organic industry sales and marketing experience. The ideal candidate must have a sense of adventure, humor and commitment to social responsibility and sustainability.
Principal Responsibilities and Duties:
Sales Management and Strategy
· Develop comprehensive database of key accounts and clients
· Develop and implement comprehensive marketing and sales strategy and tactics
· Monitor sales and track sales goals
· Develop and execute company sales call strategies and talking points
· Identify both local and international sales leads and partnerships
· Call on key accounts on an ongoing basis to review in-store priorities
· Enhance the business by gaining new points of distribution for both companies
· Ensure U.S. brand managers and brokers are implementing effective merchandising (including proper shelf management positions, rack, equipment, and POS placements)
Promotion and Outreach
? Assist in development of company merchandising toolkit geared towards organic based distributors and retailers
? Participate in special events and represent company at trade shows and other marketing activities
? Design and implement brand development strategies to effectively increase company exposure
? Manage overhaul of company digital strategy, website content and enhancement of organic search results through proactive SEO and SEM
? Commitment to healthy food, sustainability and socially responsible business practices
? Self-motivated professional with strong organizational skills
? A university degree, preferably an MBA
? Creative presentation/public speaking and sales skills
? Track record of success in a highly self-directed environment
? Minimum 3 to 5 years of proven experience with sales, marketing or business development in the food and/or packaged goods industry, or marketing to female customers
? Strong command of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
? Outstanding verbal and written communication.
? Ability to think creatively
? Strong analytical skills
? Strong command of working with social media tools
? Ability to work in a fast changing environment
? Team-oriented individual with proven ability to manage multiple projects
? Fluent spoken and written English, Spanish skills strongly desired
