WOLFGANG PUCK LAUNCHES NEW COFFEE BEVERAGE – WOLFGANG PUCK GOURMET LATTE

Bob Groux and Wolfgang Puck

@@img1 BEVERLY HILLS, CA–WOLFGANG PUCK enters the consumer food market once again with WOLFGANG PUCK GOURMET LATTE, a new ready-to-drink coffee beverage. The product hits supermarkets July 1 with four flavors: Espresso, Mocha, French Vanilla and Dulce de Leche.

WOLFGANG PUCK GOURMET LATTE (WPGL) marks Puck’s first time in the beverage niche, and his most recent foray into the retail food market since his company Wolfgang Puck Worldwide, Inc. launched his Wood-Fired Pizzas with ConAgra last year.

Puck developed the recipes, but the concept was originated by California-based beverage entrepreneur, Bob Groux, who was involved in the West Coast launch and distribution of leading brands like SNAPPLE and SOBE. Unlike Puck’s pizza partner, food giant ConAgra, Groux runs a small, streamlined operation with a tight knit 7-person team. His company, BrandSource, is an incubator for new beverage concepts. For WPGL, Groux formed Wolfgang Puck Beverage Partners of which he is President.

WPGL’s creamy, full-bodied flavor comes from lowfat milk, premium Arabica beans and a special cold-filtered method for pressing beans (versus heat brewing which depletes flavor and creates bitterness). In keeping with its creamy flavor, WPGL is packaged in a large 11 ounce serving size in old-fashioned milk-style bottles with a ceramic-painted design applied directly to the glass. WPGL will be sold individually with a suggest retail price (SRP) of $1.59 and in a four-pack with an SRP of $5.99 per four-pack.

The product was officially launched at a sampling party at SPAGO, Beverly Hills last week where, in addition to serving the Gourmet Lattes straight, several delicious cocktail versions were created including a spiced version with Rum, a “Chocolate Suicide” with Godiva liqueur and a “Bananas Foster” cocktail with vodka and crème de banane.

In the coffee niche, WPGL faces really just one leading competitor. With 54% of Americans drinking coffee everyday, there seems to be plenty of room in the consumer market for another take on ready-to-drink coffee beverages.
