Fontis Water Launches in Atlanta Market

@@img1 ATLANTA- (June 24, 2003) For Jamie Carroll, bottling pure, natural mountain spring water is a family tradition. Carroll’s family owned Georgia Mountain Water for 20 years until it sold the company in 2000. Now, the son of founder James Carroll is launching Fontis Water, his own bottled natural spring water venture.

But it takes more than a family tradition to launch a successful beverage company. Success requires growth potential for your product in the marketplace, focused determination and an expertise of the industry.

Carroll decided to start Fontis Water because he believes there is major growth potential for bottled water in the Atlanta market. According to a consumer survey conducted by Yankelovich Partners for the International Bottled Water Association, Atlantans drink an average of 2.1 servings of bottled water per day. This is significantly less than other major metropolitan areas such as Los Angeles or New York.

However, the survey also found that Atlantans drink an average of 4.1 servings of tap water per day, which is substantially more than most major markets. “Based on these statistics, combined with our sweltering summers and the city’s active lifestyle, I see a major opportunity here at home,” says Carroll.

At 28-years-old, Carroll is a focused and determined young entrepreneur entering the highly competitive beverage industry with one goal in mind: to give families and businesses the impeccable service they should expect from their bottled water providers.

According to Carroll, customer service is one area where some bottled water companies have dropped the ball. “Bigger isn’t always better,” he says. “Some of the larger bottled water providers just don’t have the personal touch required to develop quality relationships based on trust with their customers. Fontis Water offers more than pure natural spring water; we provide an unmatched devotion to our customers.”

Carroll knows the bottled water industry from the ground up. He started working at Georgia Mountain Water during the summers when he was just 14-years-old. During his 13 years at Georgia Mountain

Water, he did everything from washing coolers and loading trucks to working in human resources, accounting, marketing and information technologies.

Carroll tried to learn diverse areas of the business to develop a well-rounded knowledge of the industry. He knew his ultimate goal was to start his own company and carry on the family tradition of providing Georgia families with pure natural spring water from a source that’s right here at home.

And that local source is what Carroll believes makes Fontis natural spring water so special. Unlike some bottled waters that are merely filtered municipal tap water, Fontis Water is pure natural spring water sourced from a cold deep rock spring in Georgia’s Blue Ridge Mountains. It’s located on nearly 400 acres of family-owned land surrounded by unspoiled National Forest wilderness, protecting the source from contamination by agriculture or industry.

Initially, Fontis Water will be available in the 13-county metro Atlanta area. The goal for the first year is to build relationships with 2,500 Atlanta-based customers by establishing Fontis Water as Georgia’s best, most preferred bottled water. But Carroll has no intentions of stopping there. His goal is to expand the business and eventually achieve statewide distribution. “My dream is to provide Georgians with their very own ultra-pure, fresh and invigorating bottled natural spring water, affordably priced and delivered with a friendly smile,” he says.
