@@img1 NANTUCKET, Massachusetts (May 2, 2004) — Until now, enjoying the goodness of organic juice meant sacrifice: hard to find, hard to keep refrigerated, and taste left much to be desired. Now with the launch of its new organic juice and organic juice cocktail line, Nantucket Nectars offers an easy, great-tasting alternative for health conscious consumers. Packaged in grab-and-go 15-ounce bottles, convenient 32-ounce multi-serve size and 64-ounce gable-top refrigerated cartons; the organic line will be widely available in convenience stores and supermarkets, as well as natural foods stores. Nantucket Nectars Organic is raising the bar and setting new standards for great tasting organic juice. The organic line will hit stores May 2004.

Nantucket Nectars launches its organic line at a time when a record number of Americans are adding organic products to their diet. Forty percent of the U.S. population buys organic products, and the numbers are growing (Organic Consumer Trends 2001, Natural Marketing Institute).

“Organics can be for everyone,” said Chris Testa, vice president of marketing, Nantucket Nectars. “As people are becoming more and more conscious about putting natural, healthy things into their body, they want products that are pure and less processed, but they also demand convenience and great taste. Nectars’ organic line is an easy way to enjoy the goodness of organic fruit without changing your lifestyle.”

The Juice, the Whole Juice and Nothing But the Juice
Leading Nectars’ organic charge is Cloudy Apple, a juice that at a glance embodies deep rich flavor. In contrast to clarified apple juices, Cloudy Apple’s look comes from limited processing that allows the juice to keep its natural, cloudy consistency. The result is a juice with bolder flavor that has a variety of healthy anti-oxidants. It’s 100-percent juice. “It’s like drinking an apple,” said Testa.

Also introduced is the 100-percent juice Banana Mango Carrot, a truly unique blend of healthy juice that boasts a rich flavorful punch. “Banana Mango Carrot continues Nectars tradition of creative juicing,” said Testa. “Since Tom & Tom started making juice in a kitchen blender 15 years ago, we’ve never been afraid to push the boundaries of conventional juicing. Plus those fruits and vegetables just taste good together.”

All juices in the new line are made with pure fruit juice squeezed from organic fruit and will all carry the USDA certified organic seal.

And, unlike most single-serve organic juices available today that have relatively short shelf lives and need to be kept refrigerated to avoid spoiling, Nantucket Nectars’ organic juices can be stored at room temperature or chilled prior to opening. “We’ve taken the time to craft a juice that will go wherever you want to enjoy a great tasting, organic drink,” said Testa.

“Juice Guys” Making Juice Right: The Quest for the Best Tasting, Highest Quality Juice

The introduction of a totally organic line is a natural next step for a company founded by two guys – ‘Tom & Tom’ – whose passion for blending all-natural juice drinks started on Nantucket Island in 1989. The organic line extends the Nectars’ mission to create the best tasting, highest quality juice.

“It’s simple. Your fruit should come from a field, not a laboratory,” said Testa. “Nature already knows how to make the perfect fruit; Nantucket Nectars just takes the freshest organic fruit we can find, squeezes it, and puts it in a bottle. It’s fruit farmed naturally.”

Nantucket Nectars formed a charity arm Juice Guys Care that is dedicated to promoting and protecting the local organic farmer through Farm Aid. Nantucket Nectars allocates funds to Farm Aid to support their organic initiatives. “People who care about putting good things into their bodies also care about doing things for other people,” said Testa. “We’re excited to be working with Farm Aid to determine the best way Nantucket Nectars can drive awareness and support to this important cause.”
