Shasta Beverages, a National Beverage company (AMEX:FIZ), is converting its multi-flavored line of diet soft drinks to SPLENDA(R) No Calorie Sweetener.
Shasta 8-oz cans in diet cola, ginger ale and lemon-lime flavors were the first to convert to SPLENDA in order to meet the stringent demands of the food service channel; these cans are already in distribution to hospitals, schools and other institutions. Since SPLENDA is made from sugar, it tastes like sugar and is widely preferred by health-conscious consumers.
Shasta’s newest zero-calorie flavors, Diet French Vanilla Cola and Diet Chocolate, also enjoy the added taste provided by SPLENDA and the majority of all diet Shasta flavors will be using this sweetener very soon.
“Displaying the SPLENDA logo on our diet products make our popular Shasta drinks even more desirable to the diet-taste-conscious critics,” stated Joseph G. Caporella, President. “SPLENDA is recognized as the ideal sweetener for those who suffer from diabetes and is free of the unpleasant aftertaste that traditionally denotes ‘diet’. Also, our very new and popular no-carb beverages are tastefully improved with SPLENDA.”
“Shasta has been a leader in innovative flavors and packaging…since it was founded in 1889,” Mr. Caporella continued. “We believe that even more consumers will now ‘discover’ the exciting line of Shasta diet flavors. Once you’ve tried a diet Shasta Grape, Kiwi-Strawberry, Grapefruit or French Vanilla Cola…you are ‘splenda-dly’ hooked for life!” concluded Caporella.
National Beverage produces soft drinks, bottled waters, juices and juice products and is highly recognized for a line of refreshing flavors through its popular brands: Shasta(R), Faygo(R), Ritz(R), Everfresh(R), Mr. Pure(R), LaCroix(R), and Rip It(R).
