Thomas Kemper Soda Expands Distribution Throughout the West

PORTLAND, OR – July 10, 2007 – Thomas Kemper Soda Company, a Portland, Ore.-based maker of premium craft brewed soda, today announced three significant distribution agreements, driven by the company’s national expansion. Columbia Distributing Company, the largest beverage distributor in the Pacific Northwest, will add the greater Seattle area to its territory, which already includes Oregon.

“This is a strategic partnership that leverages the strong Northwest heritage of both of our companies,” said Joth Ricci, general manager of Columbia Distributing Company. “Thomas Kemper Soda is a great addition to our nonalcoholic portfolio in western Washington. We feel that combining our resources will enable Columbia Distributing to expand the premium leadership position of Thomas Kemper Soda even further in this market.”
In addition to the Columbia deal, Thomas Kemper has signed with Crescent Crown Distributing, the largest Miller Brewing Co. distributor in the Southwest, to manage distribution in Arizona. A third distributor, Seattle-based Odem Corp., will focus on Alaska, Eastern Washington, and Idaho. Already a leading premium soda brand in the Western U.S., Thomas Kemper expects to grab a bigger share of the national market in the coming months.

“Our first order of business after acquiring the company was to align ourselves with the best distribution partners to position the brand for national expansion,” said Germano. “With the best partners in place in the West, we’re taking great care of our hometown market while setting the stage for the next level of growth.”

New president and CEO Bill Germano is making early headway after just six months with the company, earning shelf space for the Pacific Northwest classic at national retailers such as Safeway.
