Cytosport, Maker of Muscle Milk, Signs First-Round Draft Pick Adrian Peterson to a Three-Year Deal

Benicia, CA (July 27, 2007) – Today, CytoSport Inc., maker of Muscle Milk® and Cytomax® Performance Drink, announced the signing of first-round draft pick (seventh overall) Adrian Peterson to a three-year deal. The agreement between Peterson, who was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings, and CytoSport, Inc., will include Peterson appearing in future print and broadcast advertising campaigns, in-store programs and a major Web site initiative.   
 
“We are committed to the serious athlete and that’s the main reason we pursued Adrian.  He has a proven track record as one of the best running backs entering the draft in recent years and we have all the confidence in the world that he will have an immediate impact for the Vikings,” said Greg Pickett, founder of CytoSport, Inc. (maker of Muscle Milk and Cytomax). “Any kid that has the nickname AD (All Day) for his style on and off the field, is a kid that we like.”
 
Peterson, a 6’ 2” 218 lbs., All-American running back for Oklahoma University finished second in Heisman voting as a freshman, the highest finish for a freshman. He has the second most career carries at OU with 747 and third most yards on the ground with 4,045. As a freshman, he broke the single-season rushing record set by Billy Sims (1978) by rushing for 1,925 yards, which also eclipsed Ron Dayne’s freshman rushing campaign (1,863).  Prior to his career at OU, Peterson was a consensus National Player of the Year for Palestine High School in Texas.
 
CytoSport has a history of working with top-tier athletes.  The company has worked with gridiron legends like Jerry Rice, and most recently the company unveiled its newest product Mighty Milk Nutritional Drink™ for Kids where they enlisted the services of NBA superstar Shaquille O’Neal as the official spokesperson.   To date, Shaq has appeared in print ads and will soon make his debut on television in a Mighty Milk campaign. 
 

Initially, CytoSport will utilize Adrian in print ads, in-store displays, and in a Web initiative for its Muscle Milk and Cytomax brands.  Then, they will branch out into additional advertising venues.
