@@img1 October 1, 2007 – Upper Saddle River, New Jersey – Carlo W. Colesanti, Chairman, CEO and President, FFG (Flavor and Fragrance Group) Industries, Inc., has announced the launch of Agilex Flavors & Fragrances™ Inc., a new flavor and fragrance company with a wide range of resources that has been formed through the integration of FFG and six of its operating companies.
Agilex Flavors & Fragrances now combines the capabilities of AromaTech, Somerville, NJ; International Fragrance & Technology, Canton, GA; Technology Flavors & Fragrances, Amityville, NY; Key Essentials, Rancho Santa Margarita, CA; FlavorSource, Anaheim, CA; and Western Flavors & Fragrances, Livermore, CA.
These companies were brought together to form a new kind of flavor and fragrance company with a focus on both the growing middle-market and select multinationals. Each company was acquired because they possessed proprietary and specialty technologies and a diverse customer base that combines outstanding service capabilities and a vibrant entrepreneurial spirit.
A company name and logo for a big company with small company values
Mr. Colesanti explained that the Agilex Flavors and Fragrances logo communicates the company’s point of competitive differentiation as well as the value proposition it offers to its customers.
He said, “Our signature line, ‘Agility. Passion. Excellence.’ reflects our willingness to be flexible and to anticipate and respond to an ever changing industry, business and regulatory environment, while simultaneously providing excellent flavor and fragrance products and related services.”
In making the announcement, Mr. Colesanti stated, “Agilex already has a significant industry presence and is seeking to further its position as a leading player and important brand of flavors and fragrances that is clearly recognized by our ability to offer exceptional products, agile and responsive service, a strong entrepreneurial environment and the passion to serve our customers better. In essence,” he said, “we are an organization that combines big-company resources with small-company values. We put into everyday practice the careful attention to our customers’ needs. It is what all of our customers have a right to expect, regardless of their size.”
Mr. Colesanti added, “It requires passion on the part of a dedicated team of professionals to transform excellence and agility into a reliable company culture that can consistently delight our customers and do so in a sustainable way. Our logo and signature line clearly state what is different about us, and it is the foundation of the company culture that we are nurturing. Even in our search for the right kind of flavor and fragrance professionals, we’ve taken a new approach. We have brought people into our company who are weary of conducting business in the same old way, people who have the passion and commitment to deliver on our aspirations to do it better and to perform with agility in managing the everyday changes that are inherent in our business.”

Strong critical mass of resources
Strategically acquired resources give Agilex a strong critical mass of flavor and fragrance resources, substantially enriched by the synergy of the acquired companies.
In terms of flavor capabilities, Agilex is a “concept to completion” supplier, providing the full complement of services that is required to launch new food and beverage products to market. A portfolio of niche technologies is offered for customers of every size, supporting their in-house or outsourced product development efforts. Custom designed flavor systems and natural, artificial, nature identical, certified organic, Kosher and Halal flavors are routinely available to customers. Advanced laboratories and analytical equipment alongside plating, homogenization, hot fill and emulsion manufacturing capabilities are among Agilex’s substantial flavor resources.
Fragrance capabilities are equally impressive. A team of experienced fragrance professionals includes skilled perfumers, fragrance evaluation experts, research and application chemists, together with insightful marketers that employ patented fragrance technologies for new product innovations. New fragrance concepts, trend-forward creative fragrances, and fragrance replication are available through a number of proprietary, custom delivery systems, with significant core competencies in candles, air care, personal care, household and industrial products.
In addition to reaching out to new customers, Mr. Colesanti explained that Agilex is embarked on a vigorous, ongoing pursuit of acquisitions to expand its technology capabilities. He concluded, “Part of our branding strategy is focused on consistently providing superior products and excellent services. As we grow, we will continue to demonstrate our ability to track and anticipate trends, and translate them into winning flavor and fragrance product concepts. We have assembled a talented team with the ambition and passion to meet the challenging goals we’ve set forth. We are all eager to demonstrate the difference we can make in deploying our knowledge and capabilities to satisfy our customers’ needs and expectations.”
