VitaminWater10 has filled an important segment of the beverage market. There’s no question that enhanced beverages are here to stay. When you appreciate the niche that darius created and how well received VitaminWater has been, adding VitaminWater10 was a great idea. While people enjoy hydrating with drinks that have flavor, many people do watch their calorie intake. VitaminWater10 helps them do this with a product that is naturally sweetened and with flavors that are natural flavors. Baskin-Robbins came out with 31 flavors of ice cream because they knew not everyone liked every flavor of ice cream. Glaceau is doing the same thing with the number of flavors they offer for VitaminWater10. Since this BevNet article was written, Glaceau has added five new flavors to its line with the great names we’ve come to enjoy. There’s “Recoup” (peach-mandarin) that’s loaded with b vitamins, “Sync” (berry-cherry) with antioxidants, “Revitalize” (green tea) with the benefits of egcg, “Mega-C (grape-raspberry) with, you guessed it, vitamin C and zinc, and “Go-Go” (mixed berry) with vitamin E and ribose for energy. I’d suggest to the commenter, Keith, that he try all the flavors. He is sure to find one that satisfies his taste buds. Let’s face it — while we all may have taste buds for sweet, salty, sour, and bitter (with a fifth identified as umami or savory) — we experience them in different levels of perception. My husband always adds salt to his food. Yet my daughter is very salt sensitive and often finds foods too salty for her palette. There are people who eat chiles and love the hot, spicy flavor. This is especially true of the cultures in hot climates. On the other hand, people from northern latitudes often find chiles far too hot to venture into foods containing them. So, if someone is looking for a lower-calorie enhanced beverage, there is a flavor of VitaminWater10 that’s sure to become their favorite.

I think that making exclusive flavors for the VW10 line was a good idea. Recoup, Mega-C, and Go-Go are all excellent (I especially like the latter). Of the original four VW10 flavors, I think only Energy translated well to the 10-calorie formula. I did try the VW10 version of Revitalize and it did taste quite close to the original, though it was never my favorite flavor. I haven't seen the 10-calorie Sync yet.
