Winston-Salem, NC. – Starting this week, Junior Johnson Brand Premium Sweet Iced Tea and Lemonade will be available in all Lowes Food stores throughout North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.

Junior Johnson Brand premium products are distributed by Yadkin Valley Foods, where NASCAR legend Junior Johnson and his wife Lisa are partners. Yadkin Valley Foods and Merchants Distributors, Inc (MDI) reached a retail distribution agreement for all Lowes Foods stores as well as other MDI retail customers.

“We created Yadkin Valley Foods to develop new products under the Junior Johnson Brand name”, Johnson said. “Our initial offering will consist of products we serve out here on our farm almost everyday – sweet tea, lemonade, and biscuits. The very first Lowes Foods store was in Wilkesboro, not too far from our farm. We’re excited to launch this product with a retail partner based here in our home state.”

Junior Johnson Brand Premium Brewed Sweet Tea and Old Fashioned Lemonade are sweetened with real granulated sugar and made with purified North Carolina Mountain Water. The Lemonade uses 15% real lemon juice, a much higher percentage than many ready to drink lemonades available on the market today.

“As you can imagine Junior and Lisa are pretty particular about the quality of the tea and lemonade they serve,” said Yadkin Valley Foods General Manager Tim Clark. “After a very thorough development process, we have what we think are the best tasting ready to drink teas and lemonade you can find. Consumers can rest assured that Junior and Lisa stand behind the quality and taste of these products. The tagline for the brand is “If we don’t serve it, we don’t sell it.’”

As a NASCAR driver, Junior won 50 races. Equally successful as a team owner, his drivers won 139 races and six series championships. Cale Yarborough won three straight titles from 1976-1978 and Darrell Waltrip won the three other championships in 1981, ’82 and ’85. He is ranked as the 3rd most successful owner in NASCAR history.

Junior Johnson Brand Premium Brewed Sweet Tea, Sugar Free Tea with 0 calories and Old Fashioned Lemonade are being offered in refrigerated gallon jugs in the grocers’ dairy section.

In the same BevNet issue as this story, I've read that CocaCola has developed the "PlantBottle", an environmentally friendly container made from sugar cane and molasses. Will your tea and lemonade be available in non-plastic or cardboard? Or something akin to PlantBottle or does CocaCola have exclusivity?
