HOTLIPS Soda Introduces New Cranberry Flavor

Portland, OR (April 20, 2011) – HOTLIPS Soda has waded deep into the bogs of Oregon to bottle its latest fruit flavor: cranberry. Made from fruit grown in the renowned cranberry bogs along the Southern Oregon coast, the soda features the subtle yet distinctive flavor of one of the state’s most under-appreciated fruits.

“While there are so many cranberry juice blends on the market today, very few if any have the proud pedigree and enormous flavor of Seaview cranberries from Sixes, Oregon,” said David Yudkin, co-owner of HOTLIPS Soda. “Our partnership with berry farmer Scott McKenzie demonstrates what is at the heart of HOTLIPS, highlighting Oregon’s incredible bounty by making extraordinary products. This is the perfect new addition to our line of real fruit sodas.”

The recipe for the new cranberry soda features simple, pure ingredients: Stevens and Yellow River cranberry varieties, 100% Northwest-grown pear juice and sparkling water for a light carbonation. There’s no added sugar in this one or any mouth-numbing CO2, creating a tart but clean and complex flavor.

Like the rest of the HOTLIPS line, the cranberry soda contains no preservatives or additives. The sodas are a fully pasteurized with some fruit pulp left in the bottle (a soda with fiber!) and made one batch at a time, just like fine wine.

With the addition of cranberry there are now eight HOTLIPS Soda flavors to pick from: apple, black raspberry, blackberry, boysenberry, cherry, pear, cranberry and red raspberry. All feature Oregon and Washington fruit that is picked at the height of the season so soda lovers can enjoy farm-fresh fruit flavors all year long.

HOTLIPS Soda was introduced on tap in limited quantities in 2005 at HOTLIPS’ Portland, Oregon-area pizzerias. In 2008, the company invested in bottling equipment and re-learned the classic method of bottling soda pop to produce a greater volume of its delicious fruit sodas. The distinctive bottles started appearing on shelves throughout the Pacific Northwest and beyond. Today, the sodas are available in more than 600 retail and restaurant locations in eighteen states and in Canada. In 2010, HOTLIPS Soda received the award for Best New Carbonated Beverage from beverage industry trade publication BevNET.

The cranberry soda is available at all five HOTLIPS Pizza restaurant locations in Portland and wherever HOTLIPS Sodas are sold nationally, with a retail price of $2.25-$4.75 per bottle. It can also be ordered online at shop.hotlipssoda.com.
