SAN FRANCISCO (BUSINESS WIRE)–In response to the Taiwan Food and Drug Administration discovering that an ingredient supplier had laced its products with the plasticizer DEHP, AL? Drink, makers of the #1 ready-to-drink aloe vera infused beverage in the U.S. natural market, today announced that third party testing by SGS Laboratories has verified all of its drinks are free of DEHP and all phthalate plasticizers.
Though the company’s AL? Drink beverages and COCO Exposed lineup are co-packed in Taiwan, the products do not contain any ingredient or additive that was found to be contaminated in Taiwan. AL? Drink sources all of its ingredients from top-tier, international suppliers, none of which were connected to this recall or identified by the Taiwan FDA as suppliers of concern.
However, upon hearing the news from Taiwan, AL? immediately sent every flavor of its AL? Drink and COCO Exposed beverages to a third party lab, SGS Laboratories, for testing. SGS, which is considered the gold standard for inspection, verification, testing and certification, tested AL? products not only for DEHP, but for all of the following phthalate plasticizers: butyl benzyl phthalate (BBP), di-n-butyl phthalate (DBP), di (2-ethylhexyl), phthalate (DEHP), di-n-octyl phthalate (DNOP), diisononyl phthalate (DINP) and diisodecyl phthalate (DIDP).
SGS Laboratories found all AL? Drink and COCO Exposed beverage products to be completely free of any phthalate plasticizer.
Consumers and the industry can rest assured that all AL? Drink beverages are safe to drink and are not part of any warning in connection to the Taiwan FDA recall.
In addition, the company’s stringent quality assurance and food safety practices in the U.S. make AL? Drink products and ingredients U.S. FDA approved as well.
