Video (+ Photo Gallery): Expo West Product Recap

The new product season got off to a blazing start at Natural Products Expo West. Whether they were real introductions, re-introductions of products from earlier in the year, or soon-to-come products being poured from jugs, this year’s Anaheim-based show featured a veritable flood of new beverages for attendees to consider. We’ve created a video tour of some of the most interesting ones – and will be reviewing as many as possible in the days and weeks to come.

You guys have done a lot of reviews of coconut water based products and seem to always criticize companies for over-powering the flavor with something else! Did you ever think that perhaps a majority of the coconut-water drinking population don’t like the taste of coconut water? Lets try to research outside the 6 or so palettes down there at Bevnet!

That’s not what is intended. We’re generally looking at what the brand is trying to do and how well they’ve executed it. In some cases, we think that means they need more coconut water flavor (or at least some). In other cases, such as ZICO’s Chocolate, it’s totally fine without any.

And your second to last sentence….that’s very true and a hurdle for the category. We’re with you on that.

I’m not from bevnet and I love the taste of plain coconut water with no extra added sugar or other flavors. In fact, I’m crazy about it and down about three drinks a day. I also notice that the ones I go for fly off the shelves at my stores and sometimes the shelves are completely empty leaving only the ones mixed with sugar and other juices and I end up going home empty handed. :(
