GET ACTIVATED Pop-Up Shop Highlights Consumer Willingness to Get Active with the Right Motivation

LOS ANGELES–(BUSINESS WIRE)ACTIVATE, the innovative, nutrient-enhanced water beverage that makes it easy and convenient for consumers to GET ACTIVATED, today released the results of its first GET ACTIVATED shop. Part pop-up retail experience and part social experiment, the shop was created to challenge consumers to get moving in support of the fight against obesity. Aimed at creating an entirely new type of currency, the shop put consumers to the test by offering them the opportunity to pay for bottles of ACTIVATE using “calorie currency” or cash.

Throughout the month of August, ACTIVATE encouraged consumers to participate in fun, unique physical challenges in return for free bottles of ACTIVATE. For every bottle earned, ACTIVATE made a donation to the Get America Fit Foundation, a nonprofit organization providing education as well as recreational and fitness equipment to help America’s youth stay active and live long and healthy lives. More than 25,000 consumers in the Los Angeles area visited the store. Among the results:

  • A whopping 98% chose to use “calorie currency” over paying cash for a bottle of ACTIVATE
  • 50% chose to flex their muscles earning free bottles at the Lift Station
  • On average, nearly 1,000 bottles were “earned” daily, with more than 35,000 bottles of ACTIVATE netted by consumers over the month
  • Men and women battled it out and landed at an even 50/50 split across all challenges

“We had an overwhelming response to the GET ACTIVATED shop and it’s proven that with the right motivation, people are willing to get active, and that they can have fun doing it,” said Jesse Merrill, vice president of marketing for ACTIVATE. “ACTIVATE is on a mission to inspire consumers to live life at 100%. Fans who were unable to get to the store in-person, could participate in the initiative and support the efforts by sharing the GET ACTIVATED campaign via Facebook. To give incentive to consumers everywhere, ACTIVATE offered prizes including a bike by Pure Fix Cycles, a yoga mat and a one-year supply of ACTIVATE drinks. The brand’s Facebook page also featured live 24/7 video feeds into the store.
