Submit Videos at DrPepper.com and Earn a Chance to Compete for $100,000 during Halftime of College Conference Championship Games
PLANO, Texas–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Dr Pepper is giving away more than $1 million in tuition money this football season as part of the annual Dr Pepper Tuition Giveaway. Fans are invited to submit 60-second videos online at DrPepper.com explaining why they deserve tuition money for a chance to compete to win various prize levels, including one of five $100,000 grand prizes.
“Dr Pepper is committed to helping students achieve success both on and off the field,” said Leslie Vesper, director of brand marketing for Dr Pepper. “Through the Dr Pepper Tuition Giveaway, we’ve helped to change the lives of students across the country – ensuring that their studies and future remain their number one priority, not how to pay their tuition – and we’re proud to continue this tradition.”
Dr Pepper will award $2,500 instant tuition prizes through the end of the year. In addition, a select group of Dr Pepper fans will have the chance to win one of the $100,000 tuition grand prizes being awarded at five signature college football events this year.
For the first time, two contestants will compete for $100,000 in tuition prior to the Cowboys Classic, Labor Day Weekend in Arlington, Texas. And once again, eight contestants will have their shot at a grand prize during halftime of the Dr Pepper ACC Championship, the Big Ten Championship, the Pac-12 Championship and the SEC Championship.
Selected contest finalists will throw footballs from the five-yard line into a two-foot hole in an oversized Dr Pepper can replica. The Dr Pepper fan at each game who successfully completes the most throws in 30 seconds will win $100,000 in tuition, with the runner-up taking home a $23,000 tuition prize. Three additional contestants invited to each game who do not advance past a preliminary throw will receive $2,500.
Dr Pepper is celebrating past winners of its Tuition Giveaway throughout the college football season. Their faces and stories will appear on limited-edition cans of Dr Pepper, Diet Dr Pepper, Dr Pepper Cherry and Diet Dr Pepper Cherry, as well as online at DrPepper.com, in retail displays and in a national television commercial.
“Dr Pepper is the best thing that’s ever happened to me. I said it on national TV, and I’ll say it again,” said Ivon Padilla-Rodriguez, who won the $100,000 grand prize at the 2011 SEC Championship in Atlanta. “My tuition prize has really allowed me to focus more on my studies, volunteering in my community and my plans after graduation and less on paying for school.”
The Dr Pepper Tuition Giveaway judges entry videos based on specific criteria, such as the inclusion of Dr Pepper, a description of how the tuition money and a college education will help the student make an impact in the world, and overall presentation quality. Fans 18-24 years old can upload their 60-second videos to DrPepper.com by Nov. 15 for a chance to compete for $100,000 during a select conference championship game. Consumers 18 years of age and over can submit their videos until Dec. 31 for a chance to win a $2,500 tuition prize.
In addition to the video submissions, fans can win tuition money all season long through Dr Pepper Tuition Giveaway retail promotions. Full promotion rules, including detailed video submission instructions, are available at www.DrPepperTuition.com.
