(Haverstraw, NY) As an emergent producer of premium private label and branded shelf-stable beverage products, Blue Beverage Group has taken its expertise in creating winning RTD, shelf-stable, low-acid and milk-based beverages to a higher level with the hiring of a key industry executive.
Blue Beverage Group CEO Joel Wertzberger has formally announced the hiring of Dr. Greg Cheng, Ph.D, as the company’s newly appointed Director of QA and R&D. A seasoned R&D, FS and QA executive with more than 20 years in diverse leadership roles with leading manufacturers, including Kraft Foods, General Mills, O-At-Ka Milk Products Cooperative and Bongrain International, Dr. Cheng assumed his new duties at Blue Beverage Group on March 14, 2013.
“We are thrilled to have Dr. Cheng join the company and provide our clients with an even greater range of world-class services,” said Mr. Wertzberger. “He will oversee product and technology development, and guide the Blue Beverage Group”s R&D and QA departments in consistently delivering safe, superior and quality products.”
Prior to joining Blue Beverage Group, Dr. Cheng served as the Chief Science Officer at O-At-Ka Milk Products Cooperative, providing scientific expertise to support business needs and strategic goals, while directing R&D and QA groups to deliver new shelf-stable health beverages and milk products in compliance with quality, safety and regulatory standards. Dr. Cheng received his Ph.D. in Food Science from Michigan State University, holds multiple patents in the areas relating to Food Protein Physico-chemistry and Enzyme Kinetics, and is affiliated with The Scientific Research Society, The American Chemical Society, and The Institute of Food Technologists.
