A couple years ago, Janie Hoffman was blending chia seed and juice drinks in the kitchen of her home. Today, Hoffman is at the helm of one of the fastest growing natural beverage companies in the U.S., and following a breakout year for Mamma Chia, the company announced three moves aimed at supporting and extending that growth.
Hoffman announced that Mamma Chia has hired Matt Buckley as its new Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing. Buckley previously held executive sales positions at PepsiCo and Naked Juice, and joins Mamma Chia after year-long sales stints with Evolution Fresh and cause-driven CPG company Project 7.
Buckley will be joining the company effective Mar. 4. His arrival will come just in time for the Natural Products Expo West show, where Mamma Chia will debut a new “chia vitality snack.” While details of the product are still scant, Mamma Chia founder and CEO Janie Hoffman indicated that it will be a significant move for the brand and likely further the otherwise explosive growth of chia.
“We anticipate being the talk of the show once again,” Hoffman said.
Hoffman also stated that in April, Mamma Chia will be moving from its office in Bonsall, Calif. to a space in Carlsbad, Calif. that will house its new corporate headquarters.
