Since its inception, Boxed Water has been committed to having a strong, positive impact on the natural world, by committing a portion of our profits to clean water and reforestation projects. The partnership with 1% for the Planet will transform Boxed Water’s efforts, by making public its pledge to donate one percent of total sales to non-profits protecting our planet.
“One Percent is an alliance of like-minded business people who are concerned with the social and environmental impacts of industry,” said Ben Gott, founder of Boxed Water. “Our partnership with 1% can help amplify Boxed Water’s efforts as consumers make more sustainable choices with everyday decisions.”
More than 76 percent of Boxed Water’s packaging is derived from renewable resources. The trees used to make Boxed Water come from FSC certified forests. These forests remain healthy and stable through ongoing replanting while removing CO2 from the atmosphere. The water comes from sources local to its bottling location.
“One Percent for the Planet’s goal is to connect and empower businesses, consumers and nonprofits, to make big, positive change,” said Jon Cocina, community development manager at 1% for the Planet. “By contributing one percent of net annual sales to grassroots environmental groups, Boxed Water is positioning itself to affect real change.”
During the past ten years, 1% for the Planet has made it easier for consumers to buy better products and protect the planet at the same time. Cumulatively, it has contributed more than $11 million each to sustainable food, wildlife, water and climate organizations, $22 million to environmental education and $18 million to land stewardship and environmental human health awareness.
Boxed Water is currently available nationwide through its distributor network and direct online sales, as well as markets in Mexico, Canada and overseas. Distribution sales for the company more than doubled during 2013.
