About High Pressure Processing

High Pressure Processing (HPP) is a method of non-thermal food processing where food and beverages are subjected to elevated pressures of up to 87,000 pounds per square inch. This pressure, applied uniformly around and throughout the product, helps to disrupt the cellular activity of bacteria and food-borne pathogens. Because HPP does not apply or use heat, it eliminates any thermal degradation of the product that may occur through other conventional processing methods, such as pasteurization, making it especially beneficial for heat-sensitive products. As such, HPP retains food and beverage quality, maintains natural freshness, and extends microbiological shelf life.

About Fresh Advantage

fresh advantage logoFounded in 2014, Fresh Advantage is a family business formed to provide HPP services to food and beverage processors. Although Fresh Advantage is new, our management and production teams stem from a fourth generation, state-of-the-art food processing company that was established 100 years ago, in 1914. With that lineage comes extensive knowledge of manufacturing, quality control, warehousing, trucking, sales, and distribution that gives us an edge over many other HPP companies.

According to Tim Demakes, VP of Sales and Operations at Fresh Advantage, “We fully intend to leverage our experience with our HAACP and Safe Quality Foods (SQF) certifications to bring a high level of QA and QC assistance to our future customers.  We are ever mindful of the fact that no matter what type of food Fresh Advantage processes (be it meat, seafood, salads, soups, beverages, or anything else), it must be handled with the utmost of care.  This includes lot tracking, full documentation of each batch processed, straight-through receiving, processing, packaging, and shipping.  We want to partner with our customers to enhance their product quality and shelf life, and to provide all the assistance we can to help their success in their respective marketplaces.”
