Hawaiian Springs Joins Tropical Storm Iselle Relief Effort

Hawaiian Springs ReliefKEA’AU, Hawaii — Hawaiian Springs, the bottler of one of the world’s finest artesian waters, from the Big Island, had a lot of product on hand when Tropical Storm Iselle took out the power on Hawaii Island on August 7th. “The bottling plant ran at maximum capacity in order to supply as much product to our distributors and retailers as possible throughout the Hawaiian Islands before the storm”, said Tom Van Dixhorn, President of Hawaiian Springs.

In spite of the increased production, many store shelves were out of bottled water before the storm. After Iselle hit, hundreds Big Island residents were left without power and running water. Knowing this situation and that he had plenty of product waiting, Dan Spence, Hawaiian Springs Plant Manager, and his assistant, Michele Cadoasas, started making calls to track down the right person to offer the company’s help.

“We connected with Hawaii County Civil Defense, who was handling local relief efforts, advised by FEMA, and made an arrangement to deliver 3,000 cases to the relief center at Pahoa High School, in Pahoa, Hawaii, over a two day period with Hawaiian Springs covering part of the costs. I’m glad we had a chance to help our local community” Dan Spence stated.

About Hawaiian Springs

Hawaiian Springs began bottling its natural, artesian water in 1995 from a single, highly sustainable aquifer at the base of Mauna Loa, the world’s largest volcano, on the Big Island of Hawaii. Each year, hundreds of inches of clean, arctic rain filters naturally through 13,000 feet of lava rock to the Kea‘au aquifer. The facility on the Big Island of Hawaii creates the distinctively shaped bottles of Hawaiian Springs which are filled directly from the source. One of the finest natural waters available today, Hawaiian Springs delivers a moment of what makes Hawaii special with a fresh, slightly sweet taste. Hawaiian Springs Water was selected “Best of Hawaii 2012” by HAWAII Magazine and best local beverage brand in HONOLULU Magazine’s Reader’s Choice poll for 2012 and 2013. Hawaiian Springs is available throughout the Hawaiian Islands, as well as the U.S. Mainland, Canada and Asia, at leading supermarkets and natural food retailers such as AJ’s Fine Foods, BevMo!, Bristol Farms, Gelson’s Markets, Lucky Supermarkets, Mollie Stone’s, Mother’s Market, New Seasons Markets, SaveMart Supermarkets, Sprouts Farmers Market, Super Supplements, The Fresh Market, Vitamin Cottage Natural Grocers and Whole Foods Market.
